I was born in Oxford in 1968.
I moved to Scotland in 1970 with my father, David Watmough , and have lived in various parts of the North-East including Banchory, Ballater, Aboyne, Aberdeen and Insch.
I went to primary schools at Woodlands of Durris and Banchory.
I attended Banchory Academy from 1979-1984.
From 1984 to 1988, I attended St Andrews University, Fife, obtaining a B.Sc. in Computational Science.
I then worked for Computer Concepts on their (aborted) Impulse OS then on the successful Impression DTP package, primarily doing UI work.
In 1989-90, I attended the Department of Bio-Medical Physics and Bio-Engineering at Aberdeen University, getting an M.Sc. in Information Technology (Medical Physics).
I then spent a few working on various programming projects including parallel programming with the Inmos Transputer (Aberdeen), a Radiopharmacy DB System (Aberdeen), a Force-Bike data-gathering system (QMC, Nottingham).
After Nottingham, I returned to Aberdeen, and spent three years working for Aberdeen Hospitals NHS Trust supporting a Surgical Audit database called EMAS (Expandable Medical Audit System), running under DOS using the Sapphire DataEase package.
Then in 1996 I joined Schlumberger GeoQuest, relocated to Houston, Texas in 1997, and worked within the Schlumberger Group (for IPM and Anadrill) day until 2003.
Since September 2004, I have been working for Quorum Business Solutions, a Dallas-based consulting firm specializing in the oil and gas industry.
